Eugene "John" Barry Eugene "John" Barry, 95, of Elkton passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. John was born August 8, 1925 in Oliver Twp to the late Thomas and Lucy (Bursick) Barry. He grew up and lived in the Elkton area his entire life, working on the farm, milking cows everyday and feeding the world. He always made sure there was lots of food, bringing home bushels of fruits and vegetables to feed his family. In later years he gave boxes of food for each of his children at Christmas. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, toy tractors, fixing bicycles to give away and collecting. He is survived by his children Jon Peyerk of Caro, Jo Wolschlager of Bad Axe, Jean Barry of Florida, Jeryl Barry of Saginaw, Jana Barry of Bay City and Jeffrey Barry of Bay City; grandchildren Mikkee, Ben, Todd, Jennifer, Jerome, Doris, Jessica, and Shannon; great-grandchildren Avery, Cooper, Colin, Liam, Amber, and Rae; sister Virgina Plevnia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons Pfc Jeremy, James, infant Jayme and infant John; sons-in-law Steve Wolschlager and Frank Purtell; siblings Ethel Zaremba, Marge Heckman, Alice Krohn, Helene Smith, Louis Barry, Anna Mae Lee, Marion Lane and Edith Jeanette Ross; the mother of his children, Bernice Barry and special friends Joyce Roth and Norma Speirs. A funeral mass will be 10:00am Wednesday, January 27th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in St. Felix Cemetery, Pinnebog. He will lie in-state one hour prior to mass in church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
