Vasilogrigorios Destounis West Henrietta - Died in his home on the morning of January 20th surrounded by his family at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife, Panagioula Destounis of 60 plus years; his daughter, Dr Stamatia Destounis and spouse, Dr Manuel Matos; his son, Mr. Nikolaos Destounis and spouse, Mrs. Christine Destounis; and his grandchildren, Gregory, Peter and Paul Matos, and Sophia, Alexandra Destounis and Jonathan McHugh. He was loved and respected by his family and friends and lived in Rochester, NY, after migrating from Athens, Greece in 1974. He was born in Havdata Kefalonia a beautiful island in Greece and was one of 6 boys. He is survived by one brother, Mr. Destouni Destounis and is preceded in death by his mother and father, Stamatoula and Haralambos Destounis; and brothers, Yianni, Grigorios, Spiros and Gerasimos. Mr. Destounis loved his family, his gardens, his dogs, hunting, his soccer and basketball teams and the Buffalo Bills. He lived and breathed for all of his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 23rd at 10 AM at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 962 East Avenue. CDC COVID-19 protocols will be observed. Private interment at Ascension Gardens.
