Marian M Dietzen
Marian M. Deitzen, 93, of Osseo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson. She was the first children of Paolino and Marianna (Alba) DeFranco to be born in the United States on November 21, 1927. Marian married Ralph Deitzen on February 11, 1959 and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1985. Marian was the first in her family to graduate from high school in Hillsdale, Class of 1946. While Ralph was working on the Great Lakes, Marian tended to the family farm and their children. She was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, serving in the Ladies League, Widows Group, and the choir. She also enjoyed watching MSU sports and NASCAR. Survivors include two children, Anthony (Chris White) Deitzen of Ann Arbor and Vincent (Denise Learman) Deitzen of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, Bradley (Maggie Ann) Deitzen, Courtney Deitzen, Benjamin Deitzen, Katelyn Deitzen, Jason (Kathleen) Learman, Melissa Learman, Krista Learman and Amanda Learman and son-in-law, Bob Learman of Holly. In addition to her husband, Ralph Deitzen, Marian was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Evelyn Learman; granddaughter, Angela Learman and two siblings, Lena (Joe) LoPresto and Vincent (Geraldine) DeFranco. A Mass of Christian Burial of Marian Deitzen will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. David Reamsnyder officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the church with a scripture service at 7:30 PM. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
