Jimmie Dean June 9, 1948 - January 18, 2021 MARION, Va. Jimmie Neal Dean, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. Jimmie was born in Marion, to the late Claude Dean and Mary Thomas Dean and was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Linda Evans and his brother-in-law, Randall Fisher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a brick mason for over 44 years having owned and operated Dean Masonry. Jimmie was a member of Holston Hills Country Club and the Smyth County Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and hanging out with all his buddies. Survivors include his daughter, Misty McCready and husband, Michael, of Abingdon; sister, Mary Elizabeth Fisher of Roanoke; his brother, Michael Dean and wife, Kristy, of Marion; grandchildren, Cameron Perrin, Skylar Perrin, and Londyn McCready; great-grandchildren, Rahlee Perrin and Meadow Perrin; nieces and nephews, special cousins; and friends, Gordon Dean, Tim Dean and Tim Bradley. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smyth County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1124, Marion, VA 24354.
