Clyde Richard "Dickie" Lyon
Clyde Richard "Dickie" Lyon October 20, 1950 - January 17, 2021 SUGAR GROVE, Va. Clyde Richard "Dickie" Lyon, age 70, went Home to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Dickie was born in Smyth County to the late Clyde and Ola Richardson Lyon. He attended Sugar Grove High School. Dickie was a devoted servant of his Lord and was a member at Sugar Grove Baptist Church. There he served many years as a deacon. He loved his church and church family. Dickie enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and in his younger years playing basketball, baseball, and softball. His passion for sports drove him to coach his two daughters in whatever activities they played. He was a former member of the Sugar Grove Fire Department. Dickie worked many places throughout the years including Brunswick, Guy Brothers Printing, and the SWVA Mental Health Institute; however, he was most known for being owner and operator of Lyon's Den Pizza in Abingdon for the past 32 years. There his outgoing personality and loveable character led him to meet many many friends. Dickie was a caring giving man, that always would lend a helping hand. There are numerous deeds, some known and other not, that he did selflessly. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family like none other. Above all else, he always made sure his family was taken care of and had the things they needed. He cherished the life he and Sherri had made together over the last 51 years. Dickie especially loved his two daughters more than life itself, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas DeSale "T.D." Lyon, Larry Leonard "Buddy" Lyon, and infant, Conley Dean "C.D." Lyon. Dickie is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sherri Lyon; two daughters, Suanne Anderson and husband, Troy of Flat Ridge, and Shelly Carrico and husband, Tony of Chilhowie; his grandchildren, Savannah O'Keefe Coffey and husband, Matt of Palm Harbor, Fla., Summer Carrico of Chilhowie, Amber Heath of Sugar Grove, Katie Keyser of Rural Retreat, Samantha Handy and husband, Tyler of Fort Campbell, Ky., Dekota Carrico of Chilhowie, Megan Carrico of Chilhowie, and Crystal Perrota and husband, Michael of Marion; sisters, Patricia Woods of Marion and Connie Osborne and husband, Larry of Atkins; great-grandchildren, Riley, Taylor, Kaylee, Allison, Lucas, and Brayden; several nieces, nephews, his children employed at Lyon's Den Pizza, his church family, and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Kenny Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com .
