Tony Millerakis
Tony Millerakis Montgomery - Tony Kamburis Millerakis left this world and his loved ones too soon on Thursday, January 7th. He was a beloved father, nephew, cousin and friend. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Tony and Irene Kamburis; mother, Anna; father, Peter Miller and Uncles John and Charlie. He is survived by his loving daughters Nicole and Sarah Taylor, Aunt Maria Kamburis, his beloved cat, Willy and aunts, uncles and cousins from the Kamburis family and Miller family from VA and PA. Tony was a graduate from Lee High class of '82 and Auburn University where he earned a degree in Building Science. As a life-long resident of Montgomery, AL, he started his career at CH2M Hill and moved to Montgomery Water Works completing over 25 years as Sr. Construction Utility Inspector. He was a man of character, integrity and faith, a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church and member of AHEPA organization. Tony had an insatiable curiosity to understand and master his interests which varied in everything from building model airplanes, riding motor bikes, refurbishing antique cars and playing all-star baseball in his youth. He continued with hunting, fishing, boating and photography as he aged. He was interested in most any outdoor activity and shared his passion with his daughters, family and friends but time spent with them was what mattered most. He poured time and love into his relationships, always stopped to speak and share a kind word and let people know how much they meant to him. He had an infectious smile and was kind, thoughtful, gentle, loving, witty, and engaging. I imagine if Tony were asked one word that described himself it would be "grateful." He never let an opportunity pass to tell you how appreciative he was for a loving family, friendships, mentors, kindness shared and any home-cooked meal(and sweet tea) .... nothing was too small a gesture for him. However, we who had the good fortune to know Tony are the ones who will be forever grateful! Arrangements feature: visitation at Leak Memory Chapel, Friday, Jan. 15 from 4-6 p.m., Family Only funeral service at 11:30 a.m.on Saturday, Jan 16 (Livestreamed through Leak Memory Chapel's Facebook page) followed by a Public Graveside at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1721 Mt. Meigs Rd., Mont., AL 36107. On line condolences may be shared at: www.Leak-MC.com .
