SAMUEL PAUL BELLA
died peacefully on January 11, 2021 at Altercare of Mentor, Ohio. Born in Bellaire, Ohio (Pinch Run) in 1932, he was the eldest of three children of Samuel and Lena Bella nee Appolloni of Bellaire, Ohio. After graduation from Bellaire High School in 1949, Sam enlisted and served three years in the Navy and was first stationed in Texas and then Japan. After the Navy, he attended Akron University and studied mechanical engineering. He enjoyed the varied jobs he had for the next 50 years at General Electric, Twinsurg, Ohio; Goodyear Aerospace Corp., Akron, Ohio; Gould, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio; Lear Siegler, Inc., Maple Heights, Ohio; Lempco Products, Inc., Maple Heights, Ohio; and Technicare, Inc., Solon, Ohio. Sam was a member of VFW Post 3445 in Garfield Heights, Ohio for 60 years, of which he was Post Commander for 22 years. On June 21, 2014 he received a Proclamation from the Mayor of Garfield Heights, Ohio for his leadership, dedication and service to Garfield Heights and that date was deemed "Sam Bella Day." He enjoyed, playing softball, fishing, deer hunting, playing euchre and suffering along with his Cleveland sports teams. Sam is survived by his wife, Marie Bella (nee Nero) of South Euclid, Ohio, two children Mark Bella and Ellen Fitzpatrick (John), two grandchildren (Conor and William Fitzpatrick), his brother, Bill Bella (Linda), and sister, Nancy Pramik, his stepchildren, Bob Roulan (Michele), Mark Roulan and Kathy Amato, six step grandchildren (Michael, Courtney, Kayla and Kyle Roulan, and Joey and Ashley Amato) his step great grandson, Jackson Gregory DiMassa and his former wife, Rosella Anderson nee Baldwin, and extended family. A service to honor his life will be held in late summer or fall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in his honor to Veterans of Foreign Wars www.vfw.org or Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org . Online condolences www.diciccoandsonsfh.com
