Sheard, John Edward "Jack" 6/5/1929 - 1/11/2021 Troy MI At age 91, John "Jack" Sheard passed away in his sleep on January 11. He was born on June 5, 1929 in Oxford, Ohio, son of Clifford and Elizabeth "Remy" Sheard. He graduated from Stewart High School on his 17th birthday and left the next day for 6 months in the Marine Corps. He returned to Oxford and entered Miami University and was recalled to Active Duty in the Marine Corps early in his senior year. He served as a Sgt. For 2 years in combat in Korea. He received a medical discharge after his 2nd Purple Heart, and immediately re-entered Miami. He completed his degree in Physical Education plus a Master's Degree as an instructor teaching and coaching there. He entered Indiana University and received his Doctorate while teaching and coaching swimming. He taught at Idaho State University and then came to Eastern Michigan University to teach and administrate for 40 years until retirement. He is survived by his former wife (Joan), and children: Katrin (Jesse), Kristin (Dennis), and John D. (Kathy). At his request, he donated his organs and was immediately cremated. He requested no Memorial Service.
