In memory of
Robert R. Krause
Robert Richard Krause (Bobby Banko) 71, of Allentown, peacefully passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021. Born in Allentown, Bobby was the son of the late H. Richard and Clare M. (O'Donnell) Krause. Bobby proudly served his country as a 2nd Lt. in the 82nd Airborne division at Fort Bragg and then attended officers training candidate school. Once deployed to Vietnam, Bobby was a 1st Lt. and platoon leader of the 8th engineer battalion, first cavalry air mobile division. Along with serving his country, Bobby was a Teamster for Local #830 while working at Banko Beverage in Allentown for 33 years prior to his retirement. Bobby, a proud lifetime member of the Hogan's Social Club, in his free time enjoyed socializing, golfing and traveling including frequent visits to Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and California. Volunteering for the William Allen Girls Basketball Team brought him joy by giving back to the community during his retirement. Bobby was not one to be short on words or a story, constantly trying to put a smile on the faces of those he met. He was the type of individual who would willingly take the shirt of his own back to give to someone in need. Robert was survived by his children: Amy, Chuck and his wife Jen, Beth and her companion Chris Giacobbe. His grandchildren: Kile, Maia, Jeremy and Avery. His Siblings: Susan, Billy (companion Barbara), Kathy (wife of Larry Springer), Ricky, Michael (his wife Jill) and his brother Jackie. His nieces and nephews: Matthew (his wife Stacey), Melanie (wife of Avi Kambhampati), Nick, Taylor, Alex, and Kristen. His great nieces and nephews: Amelia, Rosie and Ashwin. Bob was preceded in death by his twin siblings, Timothy & Margaret. A special thanks towards the numerous caregivers of DevonHouse and the L.V. Family Pillars Hospice Care, for their wonderful care and compassion of Bobby in the last years of his life. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bob's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project, 204 S. 17th St. Allentown, Pa 18104. Bobby requested there be no services but that he be remembered as the man he was, and that he leave a lasting memory with his infamous line. "I always make people happy, some when I'm coming and some when I'm going." A Toast in the memory of Bobby Banko and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Allentown.
