In memory of
Marilyn Beigel Haberkamp
Marilyn Ann Beigel Haberkamp, "Mrs. H", 90, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 9, 2021, at Serenades Memory Care Assisted Living in Winter Garden, FL, after a courageous struggle with dementia. Mrs. Haberkamp was born on July 19, 1930, in Evanston, IL, and was the daughter of Anna and Alvin Beigel. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School as a child and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in June 1948. She married Robert Haberkamp on February 3, 1951. They resided in Mount Prospect, IL, until 1966, then moved to Orlando, FL, with their three sons. In Orlando, the Haberkamps purchased a Burger Chef franchise in 1966 and ran this as a family business. At the opening of the Burger Chef in Pine Hills, customers supported the restaurant by lining up at the doors, and this support has continued through the years. During these early days, the Burger Chef was run solely by Mr. and Mrs. H and their three sons, Bob Jr., 12, Tom, 9, and Tim, 9, with the help of a few employees. In 1983, the franchise became Hardee's. The Haberkamps' restaurant has continued to the present, serving the people of Pine Hills for the last 54 years. This restaurant was Mrs. Haberkamp's first love. Mrs. H served generations of "dear people," as she devoted her life to them and loved them all as they grew and became successful in their own lives. She was proud of each one as they kept in touch over the years, sharing news of marriage, becoming parents, and becoming grandparents. Her many employees and customers were a blessing in her life. Mrs. Haberkamp was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Orlando. She is survived by her brother Carl Beigel (Maxine) of Lady Lake, FL, and sister Carol Goebbert (Woody) of Davis, IL; sons, Robert Jr. (Rhonda) of Lynchburg, TN, Thomas (Betsy) of Windermere, FL, Tim (Rhonda) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Robert III (Lori) of The Woodlands, TX, Tori of Miami, FL, Rick (Kristin) of Estero, FL, Michele of Windermere, FL, Stacy (Kurtis), Renee, and Timothy Jr. all of Orlando, FL; great grandchildren, Kate, 11, Robert IV, 8, Carter, 16, Owen, 14, Abby, 6; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Haberkamp was a talented floral designer, with flowers, plants, and big parties being her second love. Over the years, she fashioned seasonal decorations in her Hardee's restaurant and entertained many people there. In addition, she created arrangements for numerous weddings of family members and friends, as well as for their homes and her church. Mrs. Haberkamp was a kind, Christian lady with a "heart of gold" who will be dearly missed by everyone, but especially by her family and friends. She thanks God for their love and caring. In her words, "Thank you to all of 'Mother's Buddies,' you know who you are. I love you." She also wishes to thank all of the managers and employees since the launching of the Haberkamp restaurant family business because they all had a part in making it the success it is today. "Thanks to everyone," from Mrs. H. The family would like to thank the staff at Serenades Memory Care Assisted Living in Winter Garden, FL, for their compassionate concern and attention to Mrs. Haberkamp during her stay there. Mrs. H will be dearly missed, but her family finds comfort in knowing her suffering is over and that she is "safe" in the arms of Jesus. A viewing is available for friends of Mrs. H on Friday, January 15 from 4-8PM at Dobbs Funeral Home, 430 N Kirkman Rd, Orlando, FL. Visitors are asked to follow COVID guidelines on social distancing and mask wearing. Burial will take place on a future date at the St Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mount Prospect, IL. In lieu of flowers, send donations in Mrs. H's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 E Livingston St, Orlando, FL, 32801.
