Donald Berard
Donald Alfred Berard, 90, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021. Donald was born in Springfield, MA on December 23, 1930 to the late George and Marie (Letendre) Berard. At age 17, Donald entered the US Army, and joined the Horse Calvary Division. (Dad loved horses his entire life. He had a gift of gentling them, and treated them with honor!) Donald worked 20 years at Smith & Wesson and retired at the age of 62. After retirement, Donald work at the Sunset View Campgrounds as a groundskeeper/handyman. Donald spent his leisure time painting with oils and acrylics, and enjoying time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his four children, Debbie Berard and her partner Tom of Southwick, Rita Springer and her husband Dana of Feeding Hills, Daniel Berard of Chicopee, and Jeannine Adams of Westfield, his eight grandchildren Shannon, Katelynn, Amber, Cody, Caleb, Karina, Ashley and Emily, his five great-grandchildren Ryder, Skylar, Ava, Lillia and Clara, and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family, including his friend and neighbor Jane. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children Janet (Leger) Berard, and his second wife Joan (Smart) Berard, his son-in-law Marshall Adams, and ten siblings.
