Robert (Bob) Arthur White Palm Desert, CA - Robert (Bob) Arthur White, age 85 passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. After living more than 15 years in Palm Springs with his partner Clement Lumley, they spent the previous year and a half in Weed California near members of Clement's family. Six months ago they returned to the desert and were living at the Segovia in Palm Desert at the time of his death. Bob was the only child of Edgar A. White and Rose Cecila Kleczka White. He was born in Long Beach Ca. October23, 1935 and was very proud of his families California heritage. His father Edgar was an engineer who traveled the world, primarily supervising work during the construction of dams. As a result the family moved every year to eighteen months to new job sites. This generated Bob's love for travel. The family finally settled in Berkeley, Ca. Bob was an alumni of the Berkeley grade school, high school and the University of California Berkeley where he obtained his degree in Architecture. He practiced architecture for many years as a partner in the firm of McCracken & White in Napa Valley where he was also active in civic affairs He designed several award wining residential and commercial projects in the area. While at Berkeley, he met and married Sandra McNulty. During their 20-year marriage, they had two children, Daniel of Livermore Ca. and James of Lake Quaymacha, Ca. In 1985 Bob was married a second time to Evelyn L. Earl until her passing in 2014. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising. Among his fondest adventures was a crossing on the Queen Mary II. With Clement, he visited large portions of the United States and Europe. Their home in Palm Springs was the site for many wonderful dinner parties and cocktail hours. In addition to Clement, Bob is survived by, Sandra McNulty of Poway, Ca, his son James and wife Tina, Daniel and Tere White and their two children Alexis and Joshua. Funeral services will be private.
