Mary Ellen Andrews Mary Ellen Andrews, 89, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Brakeley Park Care Center. Mary Ellen was born to Edwin and Edith (Lowe) Ober on November 10, 1931, in Corning, NY. She spent her junior year of college in post-WWII Paris, and graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in French Literature. Mary Ellen was a public relations executive, which put her creative mind and fine writing to good use. A strong believer in democracy and justice for all, she became president of her League of Women Voters chapter in Upstate NY. Mary Ellen read voraciously and loved the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles. She knitted phenomenal sweaters for her family, especially her grandchildren, whose children now wear them. She was warm and funny and always kind. In Phillipsburg, Mary Ellen belonged to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she loved to sing in the choir. She is survived by her daughter Amy; stepdaughter Philadelphia; stepsons Hale and Gage; as well as eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Richard; her brother William; and her sister Anne. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
