V. La Fern Drake Newark - Vergie La Fern Drake, age 81, of Newark, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born on December 28, 1939 to the late Emory V. and Kathleen A. (Lear) Bostic in Gallipolis, OH. Private services will be held at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home and La Fern will be laid to rest at Wilson Cemetery. La Fern graduated from high school in 1957 and later attended the Licking County Joint Vocational School to become a Pharmacy Technician. She then worked for Licking Memorial Hospital in the pharmacy until she retired. La Fern was a notary for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wroena Chapter #597 and the Women of the Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed ceramics, scrapbooking, and making personalized cards to send to family and friends. La Fern is survived by her sons, Thomas W. (Madaline D.) Eppley, Jr and Brian Drake; granddaughter, Kiha M. Eppley; great grandchildren, Samantha (Cory) Williams and Elbert Morgan; and great great grandchildren Jaxxon and Piper Williams.
