Anne K. Baron
Anne K. Baron Alexandria - A private graveside ceremony will be held for Anne K. Baron, 83, who passed away on January 3, 2021 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Health System in Alexandria, LA. Fr. Hampton Davis, a longtime family friend, will conduct the service. A resident of Lafayette, Anne is survived by her five children: Lisette Baron and her husband Joe Adams, Rick Baron, Michelle Baron Karam and her husband Chris Karam, Bobby Baron and Karen Dunn, and Jim Baron and his wife Gail Sander Baron. She had 10 grandchildren: Dana Baron Smith and her husband Brandon Smith, Kimberly Baron Gosserand and her husband Daniel Gosserand, and Danielle Baron Robichaux and her husband Lance Robichaux; Erica Karam Girouard and her husband Chris Girouard, Mitchel Karam and his fiancee Kelly Gambel, and Amelie Karam Tidwell and her husband Jackson Tidwell; and Ally Baron, Kristin Baron, Elise Baron and Eric Baron. She also had six great grandchildren: Baron Girouard, Evelyn Girouard, Guy Girouard, and Louis Girouard, Emma Gosserand, and Olivia Robichaux. She had two step-grandchildren: Jessie Sellers, and Julie Sellers Sudderth and her husband Tyler Sudderth, and one step great-grandson, Jack Sudderth. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Richard Ramond Baron, her parents Robert and Betty Kernaghan and sister, Kathleen. A native of New Orleans, Anne attended Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, and Newcomb College. She met Richard, the love of her life, at 14. Anne and Richard later married and moved to Lafayette in 1963. Anne enjoyed nature, art, music, dancing, her Catholic faith, and making a difference. She led wild edible excursions, painted backdrops for Lafayette's Planetarium, rehabilitated wild animals with Wildlife in Distress, and led Ranger Rick classes (children's nature awareness). Active in her parish, St. Mary Mother of the Church, Anne taught Catechism and pre-marriage classes and attended Bibles studies. Health oriented, Anne volunteered with a local food co-op, planted an enormous organic garden, and baked whole wheat bread weekly since it was not yet available at stores. She was into organic before organic was mainstream. Anne became a licensed massage therapist in the early 80's and practiced for many years. As for dancing, Mulate's Restaurant bronzed and displayed Anne and Richard's dancing shoes on their wall. Later in life, she was a Master Gardener, a Lafayette Junior League Sustainer, and an animal-rights and political activist. Anne greatly enjoyed her family and friends and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Acadiana Animal Aid, Cenla Alliance for Animals, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Foundation or your preferred charity. Personal condolences may be sent to the Baron family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com . Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is handling the Lafayette arrangements and Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery will arrange the burial in New Orleans.
