In memory of
John S. Robbins
John S. Robbins It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John S. Robbins, 74, of Panama City. He died January 6, 2021 from complications of COVID-19. John was born on September 28, 1946 in Andalusia, Alabama and became a Christian at a young age. He moved to Panama City in 1963, and was a member of the first graduating class of Rutherford High School in 1964. After graduating high school, John was hired by Southern Bell Telephone Company as a linesman's helper. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after serving 7 years. In September, 1967, John and his wife, Gail, were married at Callaway United Methodist Church. John and Gail's son, Jason, was born in 1975. He was promoted to management in 1970 and held positions in Panama City, Pensacola, Jacksonville and Gainesville. In 1984, BellSouth assigned John to Panama City as Division Manager. John was promoted to Regional Corporate and External Affairs Manager in 1990, where he served until retiring in May 2000, after 35 years of service. Together they made many special memories. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ethel and Riley Robbins, sister Glenda Howell, brother George Robbins, twin brother Joe Robbins and father-in-law James Ward.
