Odell Anderson Rivers age 90 of Birmingham passed away Jan 6, 2021 one week to the day of his wife Barbara Lee Rivers of 67 years. They are holding hands once again in Heaven. Graduate of Hooper City High School, Korean War Veteran, attended Miles College, Bham, AL and Moorehouse College Atlanta, GA. He leaves to cherish his many memories: Four children; Alan Rivers, Gloria Rivers (Nicholas) Laster, John Rivers, Cheryl Rivers (Peter) Evans (VA), seven grandchildren: Julius Rivers, Krishann McConico, Vinetra King (Christopher) Murphy, Kayla Harris(MD), Patrick Harris II (CA), Justin Davis, Justin Laster; one great-granddaughter, Cydney Murphy; many nieces and nephews. Odell is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his "Sugar", son Victohr Rivers, sisters Mary John Henley, Annie Joe Johnson, brothers Prometheus Rivers, McClinton Rivers and his parents John and Ada Rivers. Visitation will be held 10am-11am Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Mount Zion Baptist Church-221 Roebuck Drive, Birmingham, AL 35215. Graveside service will be held 12pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Zion Memorial Gardens, 501 Tarrant Huffman Rd, Birmingham 35206.
