Richard "Rich" Dale Riley Palm Desert - On Sunday, December 13, 2020, Richard "Rich" Dale Riley, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Palm Desert, California at the age of 68. His loving wife, Diane, was by his side. Rich was born on January 22, 1952 in Riverbank, California to Leslie and Ruby Riley, he was the youngest of four children. Rich is described by those who knew him most as a loyal friend, colleague, mentor, avid hunter and fisherman, and all around great guy. His passions included classic cars and he was the proud owner of a 1965 Falcon. Most of all, he was a loving, devoted, and inspiring husband and family man. Like his father, Rich was also a gifted musician. He played the acoustic guitar and played in bands performing Homer, Alaska, and did not shy away from a solo opportunity to perform. His accomplishments exceed a thriving 30-year career in construction. His talents and skills were requested throughout the United States. Rich owned a successful contracting business on the Hawaiian island of Kona. He later retired from the Bristol Bay Native Corporation as General Superintendent in 2013. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his brother Gerald, and his sister, Donna; three children, Jennifer Struckman, Selena Frank, and Justin Schei, as well as five beautiful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother Wayne Riley. A celebration of Rich's life will be scheduled at a later date. A service will be held in California, and another in Homer, Alaska. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Rich's name.
