Shirley Bowen Wiggins Oberlin-Shirley Bowen Wiggins, 88, of Oberlin, La was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Oberlin Baptist Church. Rev. Shane Nugent will officiate. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes. The family will receive visitors at Oberlin Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 10 a.m. until time of service. ***Please note, due to state mandates, a face covering is required inside and social distancing must be maintained throughout your visit. *** Shirley was born on October 14, 1932, in Georgetown, La to Gillis and Vivian (Buddy) Bowen. Shirley married her high school sweetheart, James and they moved to Oberlin in 1961. Shirley was an extremely talented pianist and playing the piano was a huge part of her life. She was also a devoted Christian and served the Lord by playing the piano and organ for Oberlin Baptist Church for fifty-five years, which included countless weddings, funerals, special events and school functions. Shirley had worked for many years and retired from Oberlin Elementary. She enjoyed spending time with her children who she dearly loved and adored. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Linda and Bill Humphries of Natchitoches, Jimmy and Cindy Wiggins of Downsville, La, Susan and Vince Robertson of Tyler, TX and Lori Jackson of Oberlin; one brother-in-law, Bill Wiggins of Chesapeake, VA; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-seven years, James Wiggins; and infant daughter, Lisa Ann; and sister, Sue Christian.
