In memory of
Carl Elkins, age 92, of Lucedale, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at George Regional Hospital. He was born in Gulfport, MS, on July 14, 1928, to Theodore and Ella Anderson Elkins. A Korean Conflict, U.S. Army veteran, he worked at Ingalls for 32 years. He was also the Fire Chief at Barton Vol. Fire Dept. for 20 years. He married Alda Mae Taylor on March 17, 1948. They were married for 72 years. From this union there were 3 sons, Steve, Gary and Scott. He is preceded in death by his son, Carl Stephen "Steve" Elkins, his parents, 2 sisters, Barbara and Celeste, and brother, Doug. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Alda Mae, 2 sons, Gary (Bettye) and Scott (Monica), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and special friends. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Barton Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11 AM with Services officiated by Rev. Brad Howard and Rev. John Henry starting at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Barton Baptist Church Cemetery. Carl S. Elkins, II, David Finch, Chris Goff, Trey Howell, Chet Elkins and Victor Burroughs will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Carroll Brooks and Keith Blackston. George County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
