Yaeko Kamisato Tanaka
Yaeko Kamisato Tanaka, was a Gardena resident for more than 50 years. She passed away on Nov. 28, 2020. She was born on January 24, 1935 in Pahala, Hawaii. Shortly after high school she moved to Honolulu and married Robert Tanaka. They started their family in Los Angeles and eventually moved to Gardena. Yaeko was a teacher at 135th Elementary School where she taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 6th grade for 18 years until she retired in 1997. She attended South Bay Community Church since summer 2003 and was a member of the senior ladies bible study group, who were a big source of support during her health issues. She leaves behind a sister, Sumi Hanao; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Tim Lai; sons, Terry, Lance and Vince Tanaka; grandchildren, Leslie Tanaka, Justin Lai, Brandon Lai; great grandchild, Nathan Lai and many nieces and nephews. Due to the current COVID crisis, a limited service with family was held at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes.
