In memory of
Allen G. Bain
Allen G. Bain Allen G. Bain, age 88, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Allen was a unique man that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Allen was born September 15, 1932 in Iron River, Michigan to parents, George and Alice Bain. After graduating high school in 1950, Allen served in the Air Force (1950 to 1968) and Army (1968 to 1973). During those years, he took his wife Wanda and his adventurous children, Deborah Jo, Marc and Jon around the world with him. Allen retired from the service as Chief Warrant Officer and went to work for the government contractor, General Dynamics. Retiring as a Senior Field Engineer after 15 years. While serving in the military Allen continued his education, earning a college degree in psychology. After retirement, he went back to school and earned an associate degree in general studies. Allen's passion for greater thinking and higher education is present in his Allen G. Bain Initiative in Science and Math scholarship through the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. Once Allen decided to officially retire, home life in Fallon became the new adventure. His green empire in the desert. Building model sailing ships, fabricating bird houses (each one unique) and making nostalgic plagues were just a few of his hobbies. He would say that he had a bunch of hobbies, except for making atomic bombs and doing brain surgery. Allen donated his time to numerous service organizations: Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Fallon Elks, Masons, VFW, Nevada Gold and more. Allen was married to his childhood sweetheart, Wanda for 46 years before her passing. Ms. Pat was Allen's second sweetheart and they were married for 20 years before her passing. Allen leaves behind kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews and close friends. He never missed a chance to hand out advice or share details of his next project. A celebration of his life will be held in the coming year. We look forward to gathering and celebrating Allen with all of those he touched. Memorials should be made to the Allen G. Bain Initiative in Science and Math. Donations to this fund can be made by writing a check payable to the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, with "Bain Initiative" in the memo line. Community Foundation, 50 Washington Street, Suite 300, Reno, Nevada 89503.
