Peter Salavador Quintero
After a brave year long battle with leukemia Peter Salvador Quintero passed away at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents Julian T. and Angeline DeShocka Quintero; his aunt Rosalie DeShocka and uncles Nick, Joe, and Charlie DeShocka; his brother-in-law David Camp, and his great-niece Paige Weiss. He was born in Birmingham AL and is survived by his loving family: brothers Julian, Raymond and Charles Quintero; sisters Barbara Harrington, Marian Camp, and Rosanne Wallace; brother-in-law Tom Wallace; seven nieces, two great-nieces and one great-nephew. Peter graduated from Auburn University in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, received a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn and proudly attained the Professional Engineer designation. Most of his career was spent in Birmingham at several engineering firms. He was greatly respected by his colleagues for his technical competence and high ethical standards. When he wasn't working he was very much into physical fitness; especially long distance running, biking, camping and mountain climbing in the Colorado Rockies. He received the Last Rites of the Catholic Church at the hospital in Houston with his sister Rosanne at his side. A private funeral mass will be said for the family at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL. " I remember you Before you left me, brother. Goodbye and God bless "
