Jan Niemiec
JAN ALBIAN NIEMIEC, passed away in his sleep at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on the morning of Nov. 15, 2020. Jan was born November 7, 1938, one of three Niemiec boys that grew up and spent his entire life living the beach life. After attending Newport Beach Elementary School, Newport Harbor High School and Orange Coast College, he enlisted in U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg where he was issued an honorable discharge for service. Jan was a very devote Catholic and faithfully attended every Saturday evening mass and Holy Day of Obligation at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Newport. Jan spent his entire life living in a house built by his father back in the mid-forties right across the street from Newport Bay. Jan's love of sports; especially, swimming, basketball and football, allowed him to coach Orange County youngsters in their chosen sport activity over a span of 40 years. Jan is survived by his brother Jim, sister-law Toni Niemiec and nephew Dr. Brook Niemiec DVM who resides in San Diego. Funeral arrangements are pending and in lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in his name to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church.
