Eugene Bert Valentine 1926 - 2020 OKLAHOMA CITY E. Bert Valentine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday September 5, 2020, at the age of 94. Surviving cancer for 14 years and diag-nosed with congestive heart failure 2 years earlier he was marveled as a "super hero"! He died peacefully surrounded with family and friends by his side. Bert was born in Texarkana , to father Eugene Bert Volentine and mother Maud Elizabeth Roundtree. He had a sister on either side of him. Before graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy, receiving his pilot wings before receiving his driver's license. He served in WW II flying in the back seat of a dive bomber and served 17 months as an Ariel Gunner which qualified him as a specialist. He later attended flight school and earned his wings as a US Navy pilot. He served during Korea as well. Bert married Faye Fulkenberry in 1947 and were blessed with 4 children Sheridan, Darleen, Scott, and Brad. Later divorcing, Faye preceded Bert in death. Bert married Giovanna Louis DeCarolis in 1960. Giovanna had one daughter, Victoria, later the two had daughter, Gigi Burk. Bert was preceded in death by his spouse Giovanna, of 53 years, his parents, both sisters Beverly Williford and Sarah La Grand, and two daughters Sheridan Oates and Victoria Emmons. He is survived by children Darleen Valentine-Perot, Scott Volentine, Brad Valentine (Kathy), and Gigi Burk (Brett); He was very proud of and known as DaddyBert to his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bert was a permanent fixture at All Souls' Episcopal Church. He was there every day the doors were open serving, volunteering, and ministering to others. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday November 28, 2020 at 1:00pm at All Souls' Episcopal Church. A reception will follow this service to be held at The Cedar Gate. Masks must be worn at the service.
