John Michael Kerlin Sept. 22, 1989 - Nov. 11, 2020 EDMOND John Michael Kerlin was born on Sept. 22, 1989, in La Jolla, CA to parents Steve and Susan Kerlin. He was 3 when his brother, Robert, was born, and they grew up being close. The family lived in Del Mar, CA until 1996, when they moved to Edmond, OK. John attended Northern Hills Elementary, Sequoyah Middle School, Edmond North High School, and later Francis Tuttle Career Tech. John grew up in the church at St. Luke's Methodist, active in classes and in the youth group. John participated in sports, sampling a variety of sports before deciding that he really liked playing soccer best. John also enjoyed Scouting, eventually becoming a Life Scout. He loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed camping. John worked as a computer technician for several years, for three different companies in Oklahoma City. He was a hard worker, with a strong work ethic. John was drawn to technology, quickly noticing problems, and he felt satisfaction in fixing things. John and Jessica fell in love in 2015 and have rarely been apart since. They lived in Oklahoma City, and then moved to Oregon together in 2017, living in La Pine, near Bend. They both loved the beauty of the outdoors in Oregon. John worked at Sunriver Resort, in the engineering department, recently becoming the Quality Assurance supervisor. John enjoyed working at Sunriver and was well liked by those he met there. His friendliness and ready smile were appreciated by all. John was in a fatal car accident on his way to work Nov. 11, 2020. John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles "Skip" Kerlin and Darlene Kucera; and his maternal grandfather, James "Jim" Hamill. John is survived by his father, Steve Kerlin; his mother and brother, Susan Kerlin and Robert Kerlin; his longtime girlfriend, Jessica Johnston; and his maternal grandmother and aunt, Dorothy Hamill and Gail Hamill. John's love of life and his hearty laughter will very much be missed by family and friends alike. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 222 NW 15th Street, Oklahoma City, on Nov. 24 at noon.
