James 'Jim' Morgan Goodrich March 30, 1937 - Nov. 14, 2020 James "Jim" Morgan Goodrich, 83, a resident of Hillsboro passed away Nov. 14, 2020 from Metastatic Melanoma. Jim was born March 30, 1937 in Astoria, Ore. He was the younger of two children born to Jean Morgan and Orpha Marguerite (Kleckner) Goodrich. The family moved to Forest Grove, Ore., where he attended Forest Grove Union High School graduating with the Class of 1955. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1960. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. Jim served in the U.S. Army and in the Oregon National Guard until 1968. He married Marilyn Knox Aug. 18, 1962. They started their life together in Pittsburg and then moved to Seattle in 1965. In 1967 they moved to Hillsboro where they have lived since. Jim was the organizing manager, Executive Vice President of Agri-Business Council of Oregon for 3 years. He then was Executive Vice President for Homebuilders Association of Metro Portland for over 32 years retiring in 2002. He particularly enjoyed his contributions to the growth and success of the Street of Dreams and Portland Home & Garden Shows as well as mentoring leadership within the association. Jim loved the outdoors especially fishing the Pacific N.W. Rivers. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed reading World War II military. Marilyn and Jim enjoyed traveling, especially to Northern Canada and Alaska. Family time with his children and grandchildren was the most important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and her husband, Janet and William Howe; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Knox and Owen Knox. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; two children and their spouses, Mike and Lisa Goodrich of Philomath, Chris and Chad Youngman of Beaverton; three sisters-in-law, JoAnne Tyson and her husband, Dale, Janis Knox, Diane Knox; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Mackenzie (and her fiance, Timmy), Nic and Trinh; and many nieces and nephews.
