William C. Merrick
William C. Merrick, 92, of Blountsville, AL., passed away on November 16, 2020. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. William shoveled coal on the train while traveling to Ohio State University. He was managing partner for Ernest and Young Accounting Firm, working in New York, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina. He was an excellent manager and when a task was put before him, he took charge and got it done. He was an avid golfer and loved watching Masters Golf Tournaments, the Atlanta Braves and Ohio State Football Games. Preceding him in death were his parents Raymond and Norma Hurbaugh Merrick; son Scott Merrick, five brothers and four sisters. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 16 years Patricia Floyd Merrick of Blountsville; children Dwight Merrick of Florida, Stephen Merrick (Cathy) of Birmingham and Rodger Merrick (Laurie) of Colorado; grandchildren Matthew Merrick (Jennifer) and Heather Murphy (Tim); great grandchildren Hayes Carter Murphy, Rylee Evelyn Murphy and Morgan William Merrick; stepdaughter Cherie Brooks. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Lemley Funeral Home from 6 PM until 8 PM and on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 9 AM until service time. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2 PM. Cremation will follow the service. Lemley Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
