Norman E. Kurland
Norman E. Kurland, (76), of St. George, UT, passed away on November 13th, in St. George, UT. Funeral services will be held 2:30pm Thursday the 19th of November at Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements are by Affordable Funerals. Norman was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Dr. Irving I. Kurland and Mildred Bendheim Kurland on July 10, 1944. He attended school at Brooklyn Friend's School in Brooklyn, NY before graduating from Upsala College in East Orange, NJ. He worked in the restaurant industry working for some of the Giants such as King George Limited, KFC Corporation, Kenny Rogers Roasters, KFC of Long Island, American Steak House, and Dunkin Donuts before retiring in 2006. He also served in the US Army. Norm was a diehard Brooklyn Dodgers Fan and went on to create a newsletter called "The Flatbush Faithful" where he interviewed some of his heroes, including Sandy Koufax. An only child, Norman was preceded in death by his parents. Norman is survived by his two children, Michael I. Kurland of Newport Beach, CA and fiancée, Alexandra Sanchez, and daughter, Meredith Morse of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as two cousins, Linda Deppe (Dennis Deppe) of St. George, UT, and Nancy Finkbeiner (Rev. Jim Finkbeiner) of Port Townsend, WA. A Memorial will be held in the coming months in Brooklyn for his friends and family.
