Linda G. Achenbach
Linda G. Achenbach BELFAST Linda G. Achenbach, 75, of Belfast, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the Inpatient Hospice of Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. Born in Wilson Borough, she was a daughter of the late George P. and Velma (Kellow) Achenbach. A 1963 graduate of Pen Argyl High School, she continued her education at East Stroudsburg University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1967. Upon graduating, Linda began a rewarding career as a school teacher at Bushkill Elementary School, teaching first and second grade, which spanned 40 years before retiring in 2007. During her career as an educator, she served on the PTA, the Steering Committee for 'Be Safe', and as a mentor for first-year teachers. To mention that her church was an important aspect of her life would be an understatement. Linda was a devoted and lifelong, active member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ of Belfast, where she faithfully attended and served in many capacities. Among them, she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and choir director for 20 years, pianist, deacon, elder, and consistory member. Linda was also instrumental in initiating a church group known as NOTH (Not Over The Hill). Among her favorite pastimes were music, arts, scrapbooking, and she enjoyed organizing luncheons. Linda will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her siblings, George R. Achenbach and wife, Janet, of Stockertown, Georgean F. Carcione, and Lillie M. Brewer and husband, Patrick, both of Belfast; along with nieces, nephews, and their children. Linda was predeceased by two sisters, Saundra J. and Joy A. Achenbach; and a brother-in-law, Tony Carcione. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, November 18, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. in St. Luke's United Church of Christ of Belfast, 471 Belfast Road, Nazareth, PA 18064. A facial mask and social distancing protocols will be required due to COVID-19 restrictions. Linda's funeral service and interment will be private. The Achenbach family is planning on announcing a celebration of life service at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to St. Luke's United Church of Christ of Belfast. George G. Bensing Funeral Home 2165 Community Drive Bath, PA 18014-9503 (610) 759-3901
