Clara Jean Duck Clara Jean Duck, 93, formerly of Crestview, FL, died August 31, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19. She was born January 1, 1927 in Chambers County, AL to Marvin Grady and Osie Merritt Henderson. After marrying Rayford Duck of Alexander City, AL, she served with him during their 50-year marriage in several churches in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, the last of which was Woodlawn Baptist Church in Crestview. In addition to teaching classes and playing organ and piano at church, Mrs. Duck was a clerical worker, raised three children, and enjoyed reading and taking care of her numerous house plants. Mrs. Duck was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rayford Duck; a brother, Marvin Henderson; two sisters, Hazel Fleck and Sara Jo Merritt; two children, Rebecca Jean and Samuel Rayford; and two great-grandchildren, Catie and Aiden. She is survived by her children, Nancy Carroll of Waynesboro, GA and David Atchison (Kay) of Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Ben Henderson (Inez) of Auburn, AL and Len Henderson of Opelika, AL; her grandchildren, Jenny Wilkins (Tre'), Nikki Hardeman, John Carroll (Casey), Brian Atchison, and Keri Westbrook (Brian); seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family has decided to postpone a memorial service celebrating her life until travel and in-person gatherings are considered safe and responsible.
