Svoboda, Robert Bruce 93, of Lee's Summit, formerly of St. Louis, MO, Toledo, OH, Ypsilanti, MI, Streator, IL, Tolono IL and Clarendon Hills, IL passed on Oct 17, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospice House. Robert was born on June 22, 1927 in Hinsdale, IL to Charles and Arrena (Sellers) Svoboda. He proudly served his country from 1945-1952 in the Army and the Air Force Reserves. He was a Plant Manager at Urbana Pure Milk in Urbana, IL before starting his career with the Boy Scouts. He served as an executive with the Boys Scouts of America in Champaign, IL; Peoria, IL; Ann Arbor, MI and Toledo, OH. His first move in retirement was to St. Louis, MO and then when he married Mary Ellen he moved across the state to Independence, MO before settling in his final home in Lees Summit. Robert was a true world traveler visiting 50 different states and all seven continents. He also enjoy collecting stamps and spending time with this family. Never leaving behind his need to serve, he was active in Kiwanis, American Legion, Friends of the Chicago and Alton RR Depot, along with Carondelet Historical Society. Robert was predeceased by his 1st wife and mother of his children, Virginia Gertrude (Frese) Svoboda, sons, John Howard and Glennon Charles, and granddaughter, Kristy Lynn. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Ellen (Odell) Svoboda, sons; Gregory Robert, Glennon Gerald, Charles Frederick, and Anthony John, step-son, David Alan Odell, 10 grandchildren 2 great-grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, as well as sister Shirley (Svoboda) Wincentsen and sister-in-law Beverly (Richards) Svoboda.
