Fred W. Oser, scholar, librarian, and violinist, died of heart failure, October 5, 2020, at the home of his partner, Linda Wasserman, in New York City. He was 83. He was born in 1936 to Catherine Hoover and Frederick William Oser in Harrisburg, PA. He served as valedictorian of the class of 1954 at William Penn High School and joined the Harrisburg Symphony while in high school. He graduated from Yale University in 1958, taught literature and served as a public librarian for most of his career. He is survived by his partner, two daughters and their families.
