In memory of
Jane M. Hummel
Jane M. Hummel, 67 of Harrisburg passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 after a valiant struggle with a long-term illness. Jane was born on December 31, 1952 to Eva Jones and John C. Hocker Sr. Jane is survived by her husband, David L. Hummel, Sr., brother John C. Hocker, Jr., sister Jeanette Sullivan, three sons, Steven (Connie) Hocker, Christopher (Mientje) Hocker, and David (Meghan) Hummel, Jr., four grandchildren, Shane, Nick, Elena, and Claire, nieces and a nephew. Jane graduated in 1970 from John Harris High School and retired from Aetna. What brought Jane the most joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. She believed in second chances and spent countless hours working with local dog rescue organizations and searching for lost pets. The dogs who found a new home with her, including Honey, Cooper, Daisy, and Harley, must have thought they hit the jackpot. Family, friends, and others whose lives Jane touched, are invited to a visitation at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM on Thursday, October 22nd to remember, grieve and support each other. There will be an outdoor service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA at 2:00 PM immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area. www.pennlive.com/obits
