Rita Mae Sperling died October 14th at Homeland Center in Harrisburg. She was the widow of Murray W. Sperling, Jr with whom she was married for 63 years. Surviving is her son Murray W. Sperling III and his wife Emilie Tierney of Camp Hill, her sister Mary Anne Bixler of Mechanicsburg, her brother Ken Wingert of Harrisburg and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William E and Mary Umholtz Wingert and her brothers Richard, Bill and Lynn. Born November 1st, 1933 in Gratz, Pa. She grew up in Harrisburg and Lemoyne, graduating from Lemoyne HS '51. She married her high school sweetheart in 1953. Rita was a long-time resident of Highland Park and active in Grace Lutheran Church of Highland Park kindergarten and nursery school programs. She was also a Cub Scout den mother, an active golfer at Range End CC and bowler with the Highland Women's league. She enjoyed countless trips to Florida and several memorable trips to Bermuda, Trinidad, Ireland and Scotland. The family wants to thank Homeland Center and its staff for her extraordinary care for the last 3 years. Interment will be at Rolling Green Cemetery in Highland Park at the family's convenience.
