Betty J. (Macnamara) Sweet, 82 of Springfield passed away, Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Betty was born in Springfield on July 28, 1938 to the late Verricker and Ann (Larder) Macnamara. Predeceased by her husband Douglas Sweet. She graduated from Springfield Technical High School. Betty was the Dining Room Manager at Abdow’s for many years at many of the Western Mass and Northern Connecticut locations. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Betty is survived by her son Gary and daughter-in-law Roxanne Leyden of Springfield, her grandchildren Nicole Leyden, Joshua Leyden, Jessee Hannah Stroman and a very special great grand-daughter Kaydence Whitehouse, as well as her dear sister Linda Macnamara of Springfield. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered as the life of the party, she was always able to see humor in life and lived it to its fullest. Visitation will be on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd., Springfield, MA 01129 from 11am to 1pm followed by a memorial service at 1pm directly at the funeral home. Service will conclude with burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield MA, 01129.
