In memory of
Leanne Morrissey
Leanne (Irion) Morrissey, 63, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Plainfield, NJ, she graduated with a BS from Ladycliff College in New York, and earned Master’s Degrees from College of Our Lady of the Elms and Endicott College. Leanne was a National Board Certified Master Teacher—an uncommonly high achievement—and worked as an artist and educator in New Jersey, Michigan, New York, and Massachusetts for over 40 years. Most recently she’d served as an Educational Team Facilitator for Agawam Public Schools’ Early Childhood Center. Leanne is survived by her beloved husband, Leo; her daughter and son-in-law, Gwynne and Caleb; her son and daughter-in-law, Ian and Kat; and her daughter, Bevin, all of whom were able to spend time with her in her last weeks. She is also survived by her mother, three sisters, two brothers, and an enormous extended family who miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. All are welcome at Leanne’s funeral Mass on Saturday, October 24, at 12:30 at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. To honor an extraordinary member of the community, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Feed the Children, Springfield Museums, Springfield Rescue Mission, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, or the Arbor Day Foundation. If she were writing this, she’d also request that you drive carefully and be kind to each other.
