Betty Virtue Mozes
Betty Virtue Mozes Wonderful mother and wife; gracious hostess Betty Virtue Mozes, 94, died peacefully on Sept. 23, 2020. She was a longtime resident of Summit, N.J., and East Orleans, Mass., prior to moving to Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge, N.J., in 2008. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Arnold Mozes in 2006, and her eldest son, Donald in 2008, also of Summit. She is survived by her son, David and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Noel Mozes, both of Summit and granddaughters, Leigh Mozes of NYC and Suzanne Mozes of Atlanta. She was born Aug. 1, 1926, in West Orange, N.J., and spent most of her childhood nearby, graduating from West Orange High School. She attended Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt., where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1947. After graduation, she met and married Arnie in 1950, who eventually joined Betty's father selling brick and masonry supplies throughout the metropolitan NY area. It eventually evolved into the Virtue Tile company, a mainstay in the Summit business community for many years...and continues today under new ownership. Betty was a wonderful mother and wife, a gracious hostess who knew how to make everyone feel welcome. Her later, and perhaps best, years were spent with Arnie at their home on Cape Cod, playing golf at Eastward Ho golf course in Chatham, Mass., and continuing friendships that had spanned decades. A celebration of Betty's life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's name to the Summit, N.J., Volunteer First Aid Squad, Box 234, Summit, N.J. 07902-0234.
