Hinderer, Kathleen Ann 11/12/1958 - 10/12/2020 Ann Arbor Aged 61, went home to be with our Lord October 12, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born on November 12, 1958 to Ervin and Donna McDonald. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and continued her education with Master of Science degrees in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Washington. Her education culminated with a Doctorate in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan. Kathy lived a life of service toward others. She dedicated herself to children and adults with special needs through a equine assisted therapy program that she developed as founder of the Michigan Abilities Center. She touched the lives of so many through her compassion, creativity, and skill. Kathy is survived by her husband Steve, son Benjamin, and daughter-in-law Hope Hinderer. In addition, she is survived by sisters Jane (Steve) Pohl and Susan (Rob) Bertoni and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 19 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Ann Arbor, with visitation at the church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation ( bcrf.org ), Heritage Hill Haven ( heritagehillhaven.org/donate/ ) or the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International ( pathintl.org/ ).
