Beverly Jean Slawson We are sorry to announce the death of our dear sweet mother, Beverly Jean Slawson age 90 of natural causes. She died peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side. She resided in La Quinta for nearly 60 years. Beverly is the wife of the late Justin Charles Slawson, who worked at Houston Lumber in Indio, and the daughter of the late Lester and Myrtle Brunson. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Burke, daughter Janella Ulsh and son in law Steven Ulsh, daughter Ann Newman and son in law Michael Newman, son Stephen Slawson and daughter in law Marivel Slawson, son David Slawson and daughter in law Erin Slawson, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beverly was born in Los Angeles in 1929 and moved to the Coachella Valley with her husband in 1954. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Coachella for several years, and later worked for Riverside county as a code enforcement officer until her retirement around 1992. In her retirement she enjoyed playing her piano, oil painting, and gardening. Every holiday her home in La Quinta was the place for our large family gatherings. A ceremony will be held in Coachella at a future date.
