In memory of
Catherine Joan Calder
Catherine Joan Calder Sept. 8, 1956 - Jan. 2020 Catherine Joan Calder passed away peacefully in her home in Portland this past January. Catherine "Cathey" was born in St. Paul, Minn., in 1956 to Jerry and Muriel Calder. Catherine attended Pleasant Hill High School in California, Portland Community College, and the University of Oregon. After graduation she returned to Portland to embark on a career in market research before taking a position in 1999 with the Port of Portland, where she worked in the Environmental Department at the airport. Catherine loved her job: the warm people and the interesting work. Having a career at the airport was complementary to her love of travel. Catherine also loved music and attended many concerts around the Pacific Northwest with her good friends. Every fall she brought out the yellow and green for the Duck/Husky rivalry game. She retired from the Port in 2019. Catherine was predeceased by her father; mother; and brother, Michael. She is survived by her brother, Charles (Elizabeth); her aunt, Mary; and beloved nephew, Merrick (Lisa Montoya). She is remembered with much fondness for her unique laugh, her spirit for life, and the ability to whip up a craft cocktail. We all miss you, Catherine! We hope to gather at a later date to share our stories of this wonderful woman. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
