Douglas Arnold Allen of Rockford, Michigan, age 72, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was born to Arnold and Grace (nee Hunt) Allen on December 25, 1947, in Petoskey, MI. Doug was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam war. Doug battled health conditions caused by Agent Orange ever since. Doug enjoyed visiting the Soo Locks, watching the Freighters, visiting the Upper Peninsula, attending old engine shows, playing the Hammered Dulcimer, and especially loved spending time with family. Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Charlene M. Allen; children, Ben (Kate) Allen, Ashley (Nick) Kessler, and Amber (Adam) Hill; adored grandchildren, Lilly, Aubrey, Haydin, Oliver, Teddy and a granddaughter due in November. The family would like to thank Metro Hospital for their care and compassion towards Doug and family. A funeral service and commital with military honors were celebrated on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
