Donald F. Engelhardt PALMER TOWNSHIP Donald F. Engelhardt, 90, of Palmer Township, formerly of Southside Easton, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Moravian Village, Bethlehem. Born March 8, 1930, in Allentown, PA, he was a son of the late Ernest A. and Verna C. (Spaar) Engelhardt. He and his wife, Grace C. (Quinter) Engelhardt, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on October 24, 2019. Donald graduated from Easton Catholic High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany as a corporal during the Korean War. After his service to his country, Donald was employed by Creveling Electric, Easton. Soon after he was hired as a City of Easton firefighter where he served for 22 years, retiring in 1979. He was a part-time master plumber for Shellenberger Plumbing, Easton. Donald retired from Lafayette College mechanical trades department in 1992. Donald enjoyed his cabin at Promised Land Lake with his family, fishing, playing quoits and building model planes. He was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Donald was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was co-founder and trustee of Easton Professional Firefighters Retirees Association and former vice-president East of PA Professional Firefighters Association. Donald was a co-founder of EME Credit Union where he served as past president. He was a life member of Citizens Hose Co., Liberty Hose Co. and the former Order of Fleas, Inc. Surviving in addition to his wife, Grace, are two sons, Donald J. Engelhardt and his wife, Lisa, and Leo W. Engelhardt, all of Palmer Township; four daughters, Rosemarie M. Sanguinito and her husband, Chuck, of Palmer Township, Teresa A. Lampa and her husband, Craig, of Easton, Elizabeth A. Stevens and her husband, Joe, of Palmer Township, and Ann Marie Hogan of Easton; a brother, David Engelhardt and his companion, Beverly Wisser, of Bath; nine grandchildren: Jason Engelhardt and his wife, Lisa, Jessica Patel and her husband, Dipesh, Erica Petrick and her husband, Andrew, Rachel Sanguinito, Chris Steinert, Blake and Quinn Stevens, Ashley Engelhardt and Harper Hogan; five great-grandchildren, Broxton, Isabelle, Ryan, Jasper and Gemma, and his dog, Bailey. He was predeceased by a sister, Veronica Hammer. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S. Fifth St., Easton. Burial was held in June at St. Joseph's New Cemetery. The Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at strunkfh.com .
