Evelyn Harloff Moore
Evelyn (Marx) (Harloff) Moore Evelyn (Marx) (Harloff) Moore passed peacefully, after a brief illness, in Naples, Fla., where she had resided for the last five years. She would have been 91 years old on October 27. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Julius P. and Marion I. Marx. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Mark D. Harloff Jr.; second husband, Donald Moore; and grandson, Brandon Harloff. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark D. and Michelle Harloff III of Divide, Colo., and James D. and Deborah Harloff of Naples, Fla.; and grandchildren, Sean and Cobie Harloff, Siobhan and Garrett Harloff. Evelyn grew up in Rochester and graduated from Madison High School. She received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Keuka College in 1951; a master's degree in art education from Nazareth College in 1968; and a master's degree in school administration and supervision from the University of Rochester in 1978. Evelyn had a long art teaching career in the Rochester City School District and retired from the district as the assistant art administrator in 1985. She was a member of the National Art Education Association and the New York State Art Teachers Association. She married Mark D. Harloff Jr. in 1953. In 1955 they founded and operated Harloff Funeral Home in East Rochester and in 1981 they expanded the funeral home operation to include Harloff-Cotton Funeral Home in Victor. After Mark passed away in 1997, she married Donald Moore and continued to live in East Rochester until his passing in 2007. She moved to Macedon in 2008. Evelyn was active for many years in Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Scout den mother; the East Rochester PTA where she was a past president; East Rochester Library Board; East Rochester Council of Churches and longtime member of First Baptist Church of East Rochester; East Rochester College Club; and East Rochester Senior Citizens. Her family plans to have a memorial service at a later date to be announced in the spring/summer of 2021. She will be buried next to her husband Mark in Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor.
