Alford, Janet 5/10/1943 - 10/9/2020 Chelsea Janet Ann was born May 10, 1943 in Berkley Michigan to Allan and Jean (MacLeod) Smith. She spent the first nine years of her life in Berkley and moved to Plymouth, MI when her mother remarried Kenneth Morrison who adopter her. Janet was predeceased by her mother Jean, father Allan, step father Kenneth, sister Nancy and brother Richard. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1961 and attended Eastern Michigan University where she graduated in 1965, 1969, and 1976. Janet married Keith A Alford, her eighth grade science teacher, in 1962 and he predeceased her after 51 years of marriage in 2013. Janet taught both general education and special education in the Livonia Pubic Schools and retired in 1994. She then trained for the ministry through the United Methodist Local Pastor program and served the Ann Arbor Korean United Methodist Church and the Chelsea First United Methodist Church. After retirement she completely indulged herself in various crafts which were the joy of her life. Her fingers were always busy doing something! Through the years Janet had many more interest including teaching yoga, owning and showing Morgan horses, writing math books for learning disabled children, raising many bichon fries dogs, kayaking, leading Bible studies, and just enjoying being with friends and family. She is survived by sister-in-laws Kathy Morrison, Marjorie (Donald) Easley, Nancy (Gregory) Boitano, nieces Deborra, Pamela, Theresa, Christy and Melissa and nephews Steven, Michael, Richard, Patrick and Kent. Also, her most wonderful friend and companion Robert Werner. Janet has donated her body to the University of Michigan Medical School to be her last lessons taught.
