Miller, Carolyn Sue Ypsilanti, MI Age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in her home with family by her side. She was born January 4, 1937 in Brighton, TN, the daughter of William Elkins of Chester, SC & Gladys George Elkins Kinney of Cooter, MO. While a young child, she was adopted by her stepfather, Joel Kinney of Maine. She moved with her family to Ypsilanti, MI in 1953. Later that year, she married Redding F. Miller of Lawrence County, AL on December 12, 1953 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1994. Carolyn was premature at birth but has always been a fighter. She had several serious health issues throughout her life in which her strength and ability to overcome them had far surpassed any medical expectations. Sadly, she lost her final battle to Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Survivors include: three children, Glenn F. (Regina) Miller of Whittaker, Phillip D. (Rhonda) Miller of Dexter and Deborah L. (Richard Palmer) Gallatin of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren, Mitchell Q. Granet, Victoria E. Gallatin and Phillip Andrew Gallatin and one great granddaughter, Lily J. Granet. In addition to her loving husband of 41 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive father and five brothers, Bill Elkins, Huey Elkins, Verlie Elkins, Jack Elkins and David (Elkins) Kinney. The funeral service will be 11 am Monday, October 19, 2020 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Rev. Roy Caddell officiating. Contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation.
