Hale, Glenn I. 6/15/1929 - 10/2/2020 Grand Rapids, MI Glenn Irwin Hale, 91, died Friday, October 2, 2020 at Heather Hills Retirement Village. The youngest child of Irwin and Essie Hale, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary, his sister, Jane (Ed) Vorenkamp, and his brother, Albert (Dorothy) Hale. Glenn is survived by his children, Mariann (Mark) Williams, Jim (Sue) Hale, Barb Hale, and Tom (Shelley) Hale; his 8 grandchildren, Evan (Katherine) Williams, Alec Williams, Libby (Joey) Stewart, Drew Hale, Matt Hale, Jenna Hale, Julia Hale and Christa Hale. He is also survived by his lifelong friends, Joan and Wally Pitsch. Glenn was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a charter member of St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (Kentwood) where he was on the building committee of the original church. He retired from Conrail railroad in 1988 after 49 years. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 pm at Winchester Cemetery, Byron Center. A memorial mass will be said on June 13th 2021. We would like to thank the staff at Heather Hills Retirement Village for their excellent care of Glenn for the 3 years he lived there.
