Joanne Booz
Joanne Booz, 94, of Huntington Beach, California passed away on August 28, 2020, at Carmel Village Assisted Living Facility, Fountain Valley, California, from Alzheimer's disease. Joanne was born in Hillsboro, Iowa, to Lucile and Roland Newbold on April 16, 1926. She went to high school at Hillsboro High School and graduated at the top of her class in 1944. She was married in 1945 and was a homemaker. After moving to Huntington Beach in 1957 with her two children and husband, she continued as a homemaker but also worked as a librarian at Joseph R. Perry School for a number of years before retiring in 1969. She enjoyed gardening and helping people in need. She was involved in a number of charities including St. Joseph Hospital as an aide, The Pier Group, and Huntington Beach Police Department as a senior volunteer. She was an active member of Beachpoint Church, Fountain Valley before she became ill with dementia. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Pat Salios, Huntington Beach, and son, Ron Booz, Desert Hot Springs. She had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Joanne is also survived by her sister, Linda Ingley, of Rohnert Park, California and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Booz, and parents, Lucile and Roland Newbold. Service will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Huntington Beach, Tuesday, September 29 at 11am.
