Michael P. "Tarkus" Murphy LONGMONT, Colo. - Michael P. "Tarkus" Murphy, age 62, passed away unexpectedly, at home, on July 25, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda; daughter, Cassandra; and two siblings, Maureen (John) Quigley and Robert (Pam) Murphy. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford "Bob" and Barbara Murphy. Tarkus was formerly of Canandaigua and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1976. He was also a graduate of Wittenberg University, class of 1980, and Hamline University School of Law, class of 1984. Tarkus was a big man with a big heart. He was a gifted singer and the Chicago Archdiocese asked him to sing at Cardinal Bernadin's funeral Mass at Holy Name Cathedral in 1996. Tarkus loved spending time with his family, especially his daughter. His memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
