BURLINGTON – MaLinda Wray Childress, 80, was called home by Jesus Tuesday September 15, 2020 from her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 19, 1940 in Caswell County to the late Obie Curtis Wray and the late Evelyn Martin Lane and was married to Carl Childress, Jr. for almost 54 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and Memaw. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Darlene Dawson, Linda Warren, Annette (Phil) Fryer; son, Dewey Dawson; grandchildren, David (Courtney) Mays, Suzanne Johnson, Matthew Mays, Toney (Christa) Dawson, Michelle Johnson, Tyler Rainey; great grandchildren, Devan Mays, Lee Wiley, Emma Mays, Ava Mays, Jameson Hodge; a sister, Pam Wray and a brother Gary (Theresa) Wray. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Raven Dawson; a brother Wayne Wray and a sister Lola Marshall. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Pruitt. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website. The family will receive friends at the home. Mrs. Childress will be available for viewing from 8:30 – 1:30 Saturday prior to the funeral. The family would like to say a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care of MaLinda.
